I think it’s best to be open, share the weight and get group support. But it makes me feel bad to bring bad news to others. It ruined my day to know my husband has slipped up, I don’t want to pass that on
How do you think about sharing information when something goes wrong?
This is definitely something I relate to pretty strongly, I’m always hesitant to tell other people about things going wrong as people often don’t know how to respond. I don’t want to feel like I’m an emotional burden on others or for others to look at me differently because they’ve found about my situation. Honestly, I haven’t found a great way to overcome this and unless someone brings up something similar I will rarely share it.
I’ve found a need to be careful with who I share information with - sadly there are a lot of people out there who won’t be supportive or won’t be there for me in a way that I need them. It’s best to take a moment to think about who will provide what you need, people you feel safe with, who you know wouldn’t blame you for ruining their day by sharing what you’ve been through. Group support is there to encourage and support members, whether it be positive or negative. By sharing any slip up a loved one has the group can share their own experiences and how they moved on, and can hopefully show us a new way of looking at the situation!
