I did something today to remind me of myself. What about you?

Couldn’t find a place to share this but through a difficult time today (fighting and probably a relapse) this song helped me remind me of myself. That is ok to feel sad, tired, angry and any other overwhelming feeling and that is just a thought, they eventually go away if I let them go peacefully and willingly. Not to lose sight of myself over his addiction and frustration. That I AM HERE, I matter and I feel and I can also change for me. I know the song is from a cartoon but has a lot of meaning and I thought it might help someone else to remind them they are here too. The song is about our own fears and feelings that overwhelm us when situations that we cannot handle or made mistakes that could have hurt others or ourselves. And that’s ok, because we are still here, is just a thought, it will go away if we let it, if we address it, if we give ourselves a moment to breath, love and flexibility to our own selves for ourselves.

Take a moment to think of just
Flexibility, love and trust

Take a moment to think of just
Flexibility, love and trust

Here comes a thought
That might alarm you

What someone said
And how it harmed you

Something you did
That failed to be charming

Things that you said are
Suddenly swarming, and oh

You’re losing sight
You’re losing touch

All these little things seem
To matter so much

That they confuse you
That I might lose you

Take a moment, remind yourself to
Take a moment and find yourself

Take a moment to ask yourself if
This is how we fall apart?

But it’s not (x5)
It’s okay (x5)

You’ve got nothing,
Got nothing, (x3)

Got nothing to fear
I’m here (x3)

Here comes a thought
That might alarm me

What someone said
And how it harmed me

Something I did
That failed to be charming

Things that I said are
Suddenly swarming, and oh

I’m losing sight
I’m losing touch

All this little things seem
To matter so much

That they confuse me
That I might lose me

Take a moment, remind yourself
To take a moment and find yourself

Take a moment and ask yourself if
This is how we fall apart?

But it’s not (x5)
It’s okay (x5)

I’ve got nothing
Got nothing, (x3)
Got nothing to fear

I’m here (x3)

And it was just a thought
Just a thought (x4)

It’s okay (x5)

We can watch (x3)
We can watch them go by
From here (x3)

Take a moment to think of just
Flexibility, love and trust

Take a moment to think of just
Flexibility, love and trust

I can relate. Hang in there. We often lose ourselves in a fight we are just not meant to fight. It’s not something we can control. And we can’t take care or rather be there for others, if we aren’t taking care of ourselves. You certainly matter. Keep taking care of you xo

Love this! Thanks for sharing @jfh! I like that it’s catchy - good to get stuck in your head that “it’s okay…”

Thank you for posting this! It’s soooooo important to stop, take a breath and reassess when we get worked up over stuff - something I’m a bit of an expert at doing. If I go for a walk, I can usually find my calm and address the issue without exploding or crying. This is a lesson I will need to remember when my husband comes home from in-patient rehab in 3 weeks.
