My husband feeling the pressure at work - and seeing the start of the negative spiral is worrying me.

…trouble sleeping, lying awake late at night
…exhausted but not able to stop his brain
…anxiety and over emphasis on the quality of his work

I’m awaiting the crash.

Personally feeling relieved to have stepped back from the relationship with my friend who’s struggling with alcoholism, but mourning the friendship and torn over the decision.

Preparing to see my mom next week and know we’re going to have to talk about her drinking which is incredibly emotionally draining for all of us. Especially when she just wants to prove she’s fine. And I’ve just heard she’s come off her depression medication, which I don’t see how that will help with the drinking problem…Not looking forward to it.

My son got clean after May 20th when he tried to commit suicide because he was not ready to stop drinking he was ready to turn himself on that Wednesday but the bottle said no anyway since then he’s been doing awesome all of the sudden it went from a couple of oops to full-blown 100 Proof he came home from his drug and alcohol class and told me Mom I need to go to AA we’ve been telling him that since he first quit so I took him to a drunk and all they turned him away but the guy came around the corner and hugged my son and ask my son are you ready to stop drinking and my son just broke down and cried in this man’s arms my son is sitting in a pee right now for the second time in two days all I can say about AA is I can only compare it to the song Amazing Grace

Worry of the week: Son on house arrest and chores. I worry about the never changing commentary and response to not taking responsibility of a task that has politely and mindfully been asked. His response is to:Turn it around to others with perception or excusing/manipulating that others and say we are just trying to get a “rise” out of him. Then continuing to say he is a disappointment, etc. This has been the response that goes no where and seems to be the great “go to” in him taking a stand on the hill NOT to do what is asked. I try not to participate in the rant, yet insist on the task get completed. Next day or so - we talk about what happened. It upsets the whole household, Just makes no sense taking such a stand on not doing such a small task. This is where I can see parents dividing to buck up buttercup and alternative approaches.
