What’s your current state of mind? Wins, Worries, this is the place to freely share what’s on your mind this week. We’d love to hear it!

You never know who might need to hear what you’ve got to say today.

My son sent a picture of a produce display he’d put together at work to me, my husband and our other son saying “Look what I did!” He has a full-time job with benefits that keeps him physically active, and I think it really helps him and he likes it. This is the new normal for us; he made it to senior year of college as a math major before his drug use caught up with him.

My husband got really drunk at a family birthday over the weekend. It was a bummer to see him go too far and the next day was a waste. But the conversation we were able to have as a family, after giving it a day, felt supportive and constructive. We recognized the auto-pilot he goes on when drinking and also how it’s tied to social events and likely anxiety.

It felt good to be able to talk so ‘normally’ about this together without resistance.

I spent the weekend really connecting with my family (including my son who is in recovery). We spent a lot of quality time together, laughed, laughed until we cried, and had really meaningful conversations. It really reinforced how important connecting with people around you is when we’re in these shoes, and how reinforcing connection not only helps my son, but helps us as a family!
