What has it been like to have a loved one struggling with addiction who has become homeless?

“So today I heard my son is living under an overpass! :worried:
He reaches out to a friend of mine, he asked for blankets and food, he says he is ready for treatment, there is no room at the detox centers. He is waiting for a spot to open up. It breaks my heart. I am happy he wants to find treatment, but don’t know how it will all happen.”

When my son lived on the streets of Chicago during the winter I asked him to check in every two weeks. That helped me not panic every day. I worried but told my self to trust God. It’s a hard road and it is hard when they want help and can’t get it, but hang in there and take care of yourself. Exercise helps me distress. My son is doing well right now and is in a sober living environment. Just keep having hope and know you’re not alone in this. Hugs.
